Thirteen hikers arrived at the upper parking lot for an excursion around Roxy Ann Mountain utilizing the recently surfaced Equestrian Trail. We started the day just above the fog and stayed that way throughout. We enjoyed a brisk day with lots of clouds and no rain.
Lunch was taken on the north side of mountain where the wind was not excessive. After lunch Linda gave out peanut butter cups that were quite yummy.
Upon reaching the trail junction near Prescott Park, 9 of us opted to make a run to the top while the other 4 had other plans and headed down the trail to parking. Stong wind gusts greeted us at the top two viewpoints with a short time spent enjoying the views of the valley below.
Trails hiked on were new to some in the group and all safely returned to the Trailhead. The shorter hike was 5 miles with 700 feet elev gain, the longer hike to the top was 7.5 miles with 1,300 feet elev gain.
