Home                    Wildflower Reference Photos         Wildflower Quizzes

Leave from the Rite Aid parking lot on Ashland Street as indicated promptly at 8:30 AM. TH = trailhead; EDT = estimated drive time; CSNM = Cascade Siskiyou National Monument; RT = round trip mileage; PCT = Pacific Crest Trail; DIM = Dead Indian Memorial Highway. AHG Hike Leader: Liz Landreth 707-332-2699.

The wildflower walks focus on botany, geology and ecology. There is plenty of time for stopping and discussion as well as taking photographs and birding so birders are encouraged to bring binocs. There are no specific walk distances  - it all depends on the number of species we encounter; we get our exercise running off into the underbrush!  Figure a minimum of 4 hours for these excursions. Bring water, lunch, hat and sun-screen.
PLEASE NOTE:  Wildflower Walk locations are subject to change due to weather and bloom conditions. Contact me if you are not on my WW distribution list so I can add you for last-minute updates.

With a large seasonal pond, forest and prairie habitats, we'll have a grand old time identifying plants for Steve and his many visitors.

July 5 Steve's Mountain Meadow Leave from Rite Aid at Exit 14 at 9:00 AM
Although the unseasonable cold forced us to cut short our June 20'th WW, undeterred, we're headed back to Steve's Paradise for a combination wildflower, (Eva-led) butterfly, and open birding day. We hope to make it all around the seasonal lake this time. There are no trails, so we'll be hiking through rocky soils and some tall grass. Should be great fun.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday groups welcome!!  Please let me know if you planning to join. If things change the morning of, call me at 707-332-2699. Weather forecast. RT mileage: 40 miles
